I hope you had a great holiday break! I know I did... I was able
to spend the last two weeks of the year kicking back with my
family in sunny Southern California and New Orleans.

One of the key factors that can make or break your affiliate business is niche selection. This seems to be the one thing that all affiliates struggle with at some time or another (including me).

This is going to sound a little nerdy, but I love flowcharts!
With a good flowchart you can summarize the contents of a 200 page book on a single page.

Tomorrow is election day here in the US. The media, political pundits, and talking heads are all trying to predict who will become the next president.

There's a lot at stake in the 2008 election. The issue on everybody's mind is the economy. Voters are trying to decide which candidate has the best economic plan, and how their policies will effect their personal finances.

There are a lot of little things you can do to improve the conversion rate and profitability of your website.

Copywriting, video, images, color and layout can all have an impact on your conversion rate.

These individual elements are important, but if you really want to move the needle you need to focus on RELEVANCE.

One of the most frequently asked questions I get is "Do I need a website to start an affiliate business?" The short answer is no.

Pay per click search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft allow you to link directly to your merchant's site using your affiliate link. This practice is often referred to as "direct linking".

I love Google. I really do. But sometimes I feel like she doesn't love me back.

Earlier this year I learned a hard lesson:

"You can't buy Google's love, you have to earn it."

I've been doing paid search advertising since 2003. I've read just about every PPC book on the market. I even wrote a 238 page book on the subject back in 2007.

When I pick up a new PPC book I generally don't expect to learn a lot of new information. If I learn a couple of new tips, and reinforce my existing knowledge I consider the training to be a good buy.
