Google, MSN, and Yahoo differences

Has anyone found a big difference in the results between using these three search engines for Paid Marketing? I currently use AdWords a lot, but am I going to notice that I am wasting my money by using yahoo's paid search because the buyers are not there? To phrase it differently, am I going to find that there are more tire kickers with the yahoo and msn crowd over Google?

My experience has been that Google costs more with a very small return and Yahoo costs less with a huge return. There seems to be much more competition on Google and the people are more interested in researching than buying. I do have a couple of campaigns that convert great on Google and don't convert at all on Yahoo, but for the most part, Yahoo is the bigger performer for me.

Be sure to at least try MSN. A lot of affiliates find MSN to produce the highest conversion rate of the three. However, the traffic from MSN will likely be lower than both Yahoo and Google.

Personally I really like MSN Live. I sometimes use it as a testing ground for new products, and they aren't as finicky with quality scores and such like Google. Plus the campaigns are really easy to set up. MSN always provides a steady, if smaller, income with the least amount of maintenence for me.

Wow, thats great info guys! I always figured that Google would produce the best of the 3.

Thanks again,

From my experience: in general, YSM and MSN tend to have better ROI if you have the same CPC prices as on Google. However Google has two substantial advantages: 1) it has much higher traffic and thus potentially is more profitable even with a smaller ROI and 2) CPC cost can be lowered to $0.01 which is far below Yahoo ($0.10) and MSN ($0.05). I have several campaigns on Google with $0.01-0.02 CPC and a 300%+ ROI, which would be losing money on YSM or MSN.

Oh wow. Thats interesting. I always thought that Google had a $0.05 minimum as well. Thanks for the feedback guys!

Is that by using the content ads or normal search ads? And what techniques do you use to get such low bids?

Content ads, search ads I don't think I have anything below $0.03. Technique is straightforward: find low-competition keywords and make LPs which match them.

Thanks SKaze.

I was thinking of targeting social sites like Facebook.com or Myspace.com. Does somebody have any experience with targeting such sites?
