Massive Class Action Lawsuit Against Commission Junction

As of April 20th 2007, two huge class-action lawsuits have been filed against Commission Junction, Befree and Valueclick.
Alleging things like breach of contract, unfair business practices and even negligence. To quote from the article I read:
Quote:
"The gist of it seems to be that CJ/BF has knowingly allowed adware affiliates within their Network which commit commission theft and fraudulent transactions through adware applications."
The entire articles is at:
The part of this that surprised me the most was that the plaintiffs who were accusing CJ of this were actual affiliates.
Doing some deeper digging, I also found out that CJ is deactivating affiliate accounts after 30 days if no affiliate commissions are earned. Note that doesn't mean traffic... and is charging affiliates $10 for deactivating their accounts.
What is going on????
Tom

I was deactivated and they kept my commission of less than $10 for a fee. However, they allowed me to rejoin for another 6 months, but I would have to rejoin all the merchants. I choose not to do business with them. It takes a lot of time to set everything up then get deactivated.
I don't really understand the details of the lawsuit(s). I'll reserve my comments until I see how it plays out. Right now the info being posted on various blogs seems a little one-sided.
This must be something entirely new. I'll see if I can find out more.
Best,
Jeremy
Hi Jeremy,
I hope you are able to find out more details about why CJ deactivates accounts without notifying affiliates.
As for the deactivation issue being new, I had my account mysteriously deactivated about two years ago sans any prior notification or $10 fee...

I've spoken with my contacts at CJ about this. The response I got explained the policy, but not the "why" behind it - at least not to my satisfaction ;)
I have it as an agenda item for the next CJ Publisher Advisory Board meeting. I'll keep you posted.
Best,
Jeremy
