.EDU Link request. Is this too good to be true?

Hi

Recently I got a link request from someone who wanted me to provide them with a link from my PR2 site, hair related, to one of their medical related sites (http://medical.presslib.com/) and in return they will place my hair related link on the following '.EDU' site page.

http://vasc.ri.cmu.edu/cgi-bin/cgi-vision/unsorted.cgi

However, the full path has this '.cgi' extension which makes me a little wary, even though the site PR is verified using this tool: http://www.seologs.com/pr-check/pagerank.html

and it also has lots and lots of links on the page which I am sure also dilutes any PR coming from the PR6 links page.

Also as the link is coming from deep within the '.edu' site rather than the home page is the well known effect of this '.edu' link as powerful?

Would anyone care to comment on the above and/or if the site is likely to be legit and if I should just 'go for it'. If it is legit then I'm sure it may also be of benefit to some of you doing SEO too. (There is an email address at the bottom of the page if you wish to post your link.)

Apart from the '.ci' bit everything looks kinda ok.

But you know sometimes when people say if something sounds too good to be true then it is, and as a link from a '.edu' site is deemed to be a true 'link of love' I was thinking this link request is too good to be true.

Thanks

Slainte

I wouldn't trade links with them. It sounds like the .edu link could be a hijacked link. You're seeing a lot of .edu sites show up for PPC (pills, porn, and casino) searches. Eventually Google will catch up with them and devalue any outbound links on the page.
