Application Processing

I have been a publisher with CJ for quite some time now. I have applied for two programs and desparately need the to complete my site. I was told it could be as long as 2 - 3 weeks before I get an answer. Is there anyway I can speed up the process?

2-3 weeks to be accepted into a program! - that's ridiculous. Who said it would take that long? What program is it?

I have applied for two programs -- Peet's Coffee and Community Coffee. I sent an email to the affiliate manager at Community Coffee but have received no answer. There is no contact or Peet's coffee so I wrote to CJ and asked them to help speed the application process. I applied to both these program on 10/20.

Did you hear anything back from CJ yet?

Sort of cross topic here...

I've been promoting CJ links for awhile now but still get denied sometimes by different merchants.

I've kept a website I really don't use but it is kind of like a coupon/directory so I figured I would be able to apply to most merchants with no problems. That's not turned out to be the case.

Before applying to a Merchant do you folks make sure you have a "relevant" website, blog, or newsletter first? Or has it not really been an issue for you when applying?

Thanks

Hey Ryan,

The best thing to do is e-mail the merchant. Right now you're just one of a thousand applications. A quick e-mail will put you top of mind.

Best,

Jeremy

Thanks for the advice Jeremy!

I guess I mean before you actually apply...

When you first started and wanted to test out a program with PPC or other means of promotion but didn't have a website the merchant would see as relevant to their market - what would you do in this situation to get the link from them? Email and explain your intentions to the merchant or build a mini-site or landing page first?

Ryan,

I've been doing mostly direct to merchant PPC in the last few months, so I do not have relevant web sites for many programs listed in the CJ interface. I still get approved by 9 out of 10 merchants that I apply to using this site I created.

It really is not any harder than this :-)

Wow, that is pretty easy and never thought about doing it that way. Great tip!

About the direct PPC - are you doing this for only for testing purposes? I assume it's more difficult now to do this exclusively as Google will only allow 1 merchant URL displayed at a time. By the way, do you know if the other engines have that rule?

Also, if I don't know how to make a comment form page like you have above - is there anyhere online that will show me how to make a form like this for free that you know of? I use yahoo pagebuilder/sitebuilder and don't know how to do php yet.

There are two reasons for doing direct to merchant PPC. One is market research, to see what markets convert and what keywords convert in which markets, the other is to build up large portfolio of small earners. This is possible because a direct PPC campaign can be put together in an hour. It's important to be able to track everything on a keyword level and be able to automate reporting. Otherwise managing so many campaigns would take too much time.

I have not been using Yahoo or MSN, so I am not sure.

The perl script that I call from the contact form on my site was provided by my webhost. I am not sure what Sitebuilder gives you. However, you really do need a form, as long as you provide some contact info, such as your e-mail. I suggest not using your primary e-mail, as sooner or later, you'll start getting spam at that address, at which point you can simply change it.
