Not unless they're customized. The merchant feed is a good starting point, but it needs to be surrounded by reviews or comments for it to have "freshness".

I use the feeds in wordpress blogs with quite good success. I usually leave the comments closed with good results. I have started testing leaving comments open to see what happens, it is an easy way to generate custom content.

I got my feet wet with feeds using ebay feeds and also a plugin for my blog. To branch out from here, is it a matter of contacting a merchant and see what they offer or finding feeds with very cool features and figure out how to promote what it offers. Maybe this is what a customizable feed is?
