Are we going about this is the correct way?

This morning I was reading the article on wired.com about "counting cards in the game of Black Jack" It was talking about the history of card counting and how it use to be that one person sat at the table by himself (herself), counted the cards, and made the bets. A.K.A. a one man band.
Now, card counting is done with teams with different people do the counting, others the betting, etc.
I began to wonder if we are going about affiliate marketing in the correct way. Could we be doing better if several people worked as a team?
Could we better control out PPC cost that way?
Could we dominate the AdWords ads?
From what I hear, the Russian hackers work in teams (not that we are going to hack anything).
The SEO people for the most part work in teams.
Or, is the nature of affiliate going it alone?

Interesting thoughts... I think a team of successful affiliates could be 5x more effective than a single affiliate, but you don't want too many cooks in the kitchen. You also have to consider that many affiliates are drawn to this business because they like working alone.
Teams work best when everybody plays a specific role. There will most likely be a lot of overlap because affiliates where many hats. You would have to find a band of individuals who a) you trust, b) have experience where it's needed, and c) can play in a team environment.
I think it's a good idea, but you need to find the right pieces to make it work. Maybe you'll find some of those pieces in the QYDJ community...

I think most affiliate marketers would be reluctant to share their niche and
approach if they were some what successful.
I think most team efforts are better suited to unsolved problems like finding a cure for a disease or a planning a mission to Mars.
An interesting concept though, perhaps it would work! Jack/Pogo

that varies  some work in teams, some alone (some of my old St. Petersburg school friends are from this category). it's more of a personality question. but yes Russians in general do have more of a friends culture which simplifies working together in small teams. in the western countries people are more reserved/secretive and not as quick to open all their intentions.
that said, IMO programming aka hacking projects are better suited for teamwork than affiliate marketing, because it's much harder for one person to write an equivalent piece of software in the same time. a unit of profitable work in affiliate business on the other hand is fairly small - find a niche/research KWs/make LP/test until it has a positive ROI - and can be done in a day or several even by a single person. having more people would accelerate the end result of course, but if you want to have full-blown affiliates working with you, there's lots on stake and you probably have to share the profits evenly. which is quite expensive..
the other solution is just hiring freelancers on a project basis to do time-intensive but not sensitive work like making LPs. but even this is not all that easy. mostly i prefer to make my own LPs..
Working As A Team
Interesting. I have been thinking along the same lines.
Teams
After working alone as an affiliate for about 8 months now, I'm noticing I need to work as part of a team to stay sane. Maybe it comes from being raised with hockey and basketball, I'm not sure. However, I go too crazy working alone for long stretches.
So, I've been looking for people to start a small company with (2-4 people). I randomly met a guy in a coffee shop who is a business consultant and has some great ideas for service-based websites that we're working on. The company will use affiliate marketing as a source of income.
The point is that meeting with this guy two or three times a week to bounce ideas around really feeds my entrepreneurial addiction. It helps that he's seen hundreds of business models and knows what works. I go back to work with added enthusiasm and a better idea of how to run my affiliate business.
I know that Jeremy has always been a one-man shop and I know he wouldn't have it any other way, but for anyone else who is thinking of joining forces with someone, I suggest trying it. Make sure it's someone who can bring something to the table and pushes you to think in different ways about your business. In my case this new business partner adds knowledge about business strategy, planning, and direction, things that I've been lacking. The partnership has resulted in free business consulting for me while offering exciting new opportunities.

Great feedback Mike. Having somebody to bounce ideas off is a major plus. I need to get more involved with the local groups here in UT.
I've always had partners in
I've always had partners in my businesses, and had always thought I needed them. Lately, I've come to the conclusion that since I do most of the work, what do I really need everyone else for?
I think my problem has been finding the right partners. I'm still looking because I can't do everything, and I do like to bounce ideas off others.
Partnership is definitely like a marriage, and a good one starts with the proper exit strategy.

I had involved in
I had involved in partnership for my own business. I had changed many partners. It is difficult to find the RIGHT partner. Fortunate for me, my business partnership is working well for me and had last for 3 years.
I would say partnership can work magic but it can be a nightmare too.
Maybe that's why partner come from the work "part", partnership normally end parting in either way, when the relationship turn sour, or when both had outgrown each other.
I had also tried working in a team, but fail too.
I had read TEAM stand for "Together wE Achieve More", but end up what we get is "Together wE Argue More"
I guess for partnership or teamwork perform magic, all members must have a common Vision.
