Email reader and combating spam

Here's a question that I think I might have an answer for but want to see what the community says.
How do you combat spam and how much of it do you get a day?
For the last 8 years I've used Outlook and SpamBayes plugin to score and take care of my spam needs. Now with 12 sites and at least an email for each one, I'm getting 1000-1500 spam a day. And it takes 20 minutes to download and sort email each day. Afterward I end up with 100 real emails.
I'm thinking about going to an online mail service like Gmail to handle this all for me as well as store it.
Was curious what other people in my situation are going through and how they solved their problems.

I'm using Google Apps. Spam
I'm using Google Apps. Spam rarely gets to my primary inbox. In fact, I could probably count on one hand how many messages manage to get through the Gmail filter every day.
Irony defined: within 1
Irony defined: within 1 minute of posting this, a spam message got through my filter - sigh... At least it doesn't happen regularly.
I agree, Gmail has amazing
I agree, Gmail has amazing spam filtering technology. My sites are hosted on a Linux server so, for my POP emai, I use SpamAssassin which is part of cPanel. It works very well and the aggressiveness of the filtering can be controlled to suit your circumstances.
