Here are some of my personal favorites:

"Success is achieved in inches, not miles." - John C. Maxwell

"You can use most any measure when you are speaking of success. You can measure it in a fancy home, expensive car or dress. But the measure of your real success is one you cannot spend; it is the way your child describes you when talking to a friend." - Martin Buxbaum
*****************************************************
"Measures of Success"

To carry money without spending it;
To bear an injustice without retaliating;
To do one's duty when critical eyes watch;
To keep at a job until it is finished;
To do the work, and let others receive the recognition;
To accept criticism without letting it whip you;
To rise above those who want to push you down;
To love when hate is all about you;
To follow God when others put detour signs in your path;
To have a peace of heart and mind because you have given God your best.

I've saved the BEST for last ;) ...

"To live content with small means;
To seek elegance rather than luxury,
and refinement rather than fashion;
To be worthy , not respectable, and wealthy, not rich;
To study hard, think quietly,
Talk gently,
Act frankly;
To listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart;
To bear all cheerfully,
Do all bravely,
Await occasions,
Hurry never.
In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common.

Judith-

Thanks for sharing those 3 quotes. They are powerful words to keep one thinking on them
many times over. Every time I browse this category, I find myself pausing on those three, so I wanted to
Thank you for sharing these influential thoughts from several very great minds. There is a very sequential strength to the order in which the quotes were posted creating greater strength and impact.

Hi Ayn--

Thank you for your lovely insights! You're right about the sequential strength of them. I didn't see that initially. Thanks for sharing it.

I consciously posted women's quotes. I think all the other quotes are by men.

“Other creatures exist as a final product of long lines of natural evolution, and do not, and cannot, become more evolved in one lifetime. Human beings, on the other hand, within the span of a lifetime, can, through conscious effort, become more evolved. Every human being comes into existence not only as the latest product of a line of natural evolution but also as a possibility of a new kind of evolution, and of a new kind of human race.”

Ryan,

Thanks for posting the link. For me, this not only pertains to my dream of being a successful, full time, stay-at-home affiliate, but also my hope to again be someone who is completely happy with life.

I have to convince myself that while things will always be different, they can once again be better. Most importantly, I have to remind myself that no matter what I have been or am currently going through, there are others in this world, in our country, in my town who are suffering or struggling more than me.

I'm on my way back. Hopefully, with the help of Jeremy, TBIP, and of course, everyone here, things will not only be better; to a certain degree, they'll be better than before.

Succeed anyway...

Ryan's picture

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
