Hi Jeremy,
I would like to be able to download the webinar recordings and watch them while traveling (e.g., at airports, on airplanes, places without internet connections, etc.). Would you consider providing this as an option.
Thank you, Don

Jeremy,
Why did they make us signup all over again for the recording? Maybe its just becasue I am on a different machine this time.
I was also under the impression that the "recordings" where "download able". Technically they are just only if you want to use the proprietary system and want to be at your PC. Which is nice because the webinar did have some awesome slides with visuals.
But for a quick recap of the session its a lot more trouble than using my iPod. which has a screen and so forth. My point is many of us would probably be willing to pay for the audio and video download able. Do you think that might be an option in the future if a free version is not?

Hi Bart - Yes. Looking into converting the file now. I wasn't exactly sure what the final recorded product/process would look until tonight. I'll follow up with WebEx to see what we can do to make this whole experience more usable.

Jeremy,
I played withthe tool a bit. It looks as if you can actually import a file to play. They have a open option. I was also able to grab the name of the file for this Webinar. But I had no root URL to hook the file too. They also have a save option but its grayed out.
I hope we don't get in trouble for grabbing it via screen cast or some other means other then through their system.

Did some reasearch -- Looks like Camtasia is required and a screen recording of the webinar needs to be done in real time -- then the recording needs to be converted to AVI and MPEG
Thanks Jeremy!!
Looks like this is going to teach me a great deal.
Got about 20 min into the webinar and had to go back to work (DAM) but will finish in the PM.
I just wanted to stop and say thank you for the hard work. Yep I got a lot to learn. :)

Hi Fellow Black Inkers
I am in the middle of using Camtasia to do a recording of the seminar ran it through the first time and had an issue captuing the audio. Scrambling through the building here now trying to find a box with Sound Blaster on it. I will let everyone know when I have it done. I am supposed to be able to even render it for playback on ipod when it is all said and done. Back to the scramble looking for the right box to set up on.

I wasn't sure what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised. It was interesting and supportive to hear your real-world experiences, Jeremy.
One thing I would like to see you address, re finding a niche, is alternatives to the all too heavily emphasized key word research stratgies. keywords tell you what people are looking for. Sales figures tell you what they _buy_. Amazon, as one example, provides useful lists of 'best sellers'. My thought is, it's a lot better way to go than search volume on its own ... but then you are making the money and I'm not ... yet.

I didn't get to make it to day one's session but I just listened to it now... WOW... I had a real "light bulb moment" today!
Even though I've heard it said a thousand times, choose a niche that you either have some experience with... the advice didn't ring true to me until today... I almost did the V-8 slap to the head!!
I've spent countless hours, days... months chasing niches that I had no interest or experience in. And then abandoned the project when it proved to be a loser... only to move onto the NEXT niche that I had no interest or experience.
I've printed out the guidelines for determining characteristics of good and bad niches to keep as a reminder daily.
Anyway, thank you so much Jeremy for putting so much into this project. I think I'm going to owe you big time for opening my eyes :)

Jeremy:
I've been an affiliate marketer for about 3 years now and have had moderate success - just enough success to pay the monthly mortgage on a modest house and that's about it.
One of the things that has been driving me nuts lately is that I can't get approved by merchants (specifically from CJ) to save my life. It seems most have automatic rejection replies. And when I approach the affiliate managers directly, they want to see my site first - which in many cases I don't because I want to test the niche first before creating a full blown site.
When I tell that to the merchants, they tell me they don't want more "direct-linking affiliates." They want affiliates that have niche sites! They have basically been telling me to contact them once my website is up and running (and they don't want landing pages only either).
So...what is a guy to do?
I know there are many merchants out there but in a few specific niches I was looking at, there were 1-2 major players (in terms of merchants). Both rejected me and won't even consider me until I have a website up. How do you get merchants to accept you as an affiliate without spending a ton of time and effort building out a website?
Travis
P.S. This Black Ink Project is incredible so far. I've paid $1,000 for affiliate training in the past that wasn't nearly as comprehensive as this training so far! Keep up the great work!

Travis, thanks for asking this. This is my question too, and probably many others out there have been wondering along with us... I haven't even tried to join CJ and some other networks for this very reason -- how can I show them a "worthy" website without testing to see which merchants/products are worth the effort of building an involved site? That's the reason I've stuck with promoting digital Clickbank products using direct linking and landing pages, but I want to move beyond that.
If CJ or its merchants reject my application because I don't have a "worthy" site, or have a relevant site at all, will they lock me out of the network forever, or only until I can show them a "worthy" site when I re-apply?

Travis,
I think your best approach is to build your web site first and then approach the affiliate manager . Or, when contacting the affiliate manager make a list of your current sites and invite the manager to look at those sites as well.
I have been rejected a couple times, but after sending and email to the manager explaining why I would like to be an affiliate and including a list of some of my sites a majority have approved my application.
I believe Amazon has everything. Even if this is a service niche, Amazon must has books, software, dummies book, etc. about the niche.
Build your web site first as Amazon's affiliate. So even if you did not get CJ merchants approval subsequently, you will have a nice niche Amazon affiliate site (Or ebay, if you are ebay's affiliate) quietly making money and you won't "waste" your efforts.
Travis/Kurt: I've seen this question posted before in other forums and I'll relay to you what I've read as I tend to agree with the answer I've seen.
If CJ and others are wanting to see an actual website then give them what they want. Take some time and come up with a website that has some content on it. That could be a blog or a full blow site with tons of good content. In a matter of a week or two (or even a few days depending on how much effort you put into it) you could have a pretty decent site up and running.
I put together a blog about a subject that I enjoyed and could write about and before I knew it I had a bunch of posts and articles up and I was quickly accepted by every affiliate network I applied for.
I like the "give them what they want" idea whether it's your target customer or target business partner or network. :)
Since I have several websites "registered" with CJ, sometimes the merchant will look at the first one on the list and determine that it is not relevant to their brand. So, as Dan mentioned above, a polite e-mail will often do the trick providing you have a quality website that you can point the affiliate manager to.

Hi Jeremy,
I have been following your presentations and am quite impressed. You have really put a lot of work into this and it shows! I suspect I will need to review each video to be sure I extract everything, your provide Soooo much valuable info.
I had a thought to contribute to the video download issue you have discussed. I assume it is addressed already, but for an FYI, if applicable, I have downloaded the latest Real Player (the freebie) and noticed that a recorded video stream can be downloaded to your machine with this software. Pretty cool feature as I have often found cool little streams that I want to save. I didn't really care for previous versions of this software but this latest is pretty good.
Cheers,
Jeromy
