Joining an affiliate network without a website

bthurman's picture

I realize this topic has been discussed on numerous occasions but I am a newbie who is still confused. How is the best way to join an affiliate network without a website? When I go to the network websites they ask for this information. I did see a response by "Bart" on the QYDJ forum to a similar question. His reply included a link to www.affiliatemarketingworks.com. I loved this idea but am unsure if that was only for individual vendors inside the network or would work for the network application as well.

Again, sorry if this is overkill. I am just really confused on this issue.

Thanks,

Bob

I think he uses that web site as his resume for application to join affiliate program.

Hello Bob,

One way around joining a network without a webiste that I've found is to list yourself as a search engine marketer and list the website as the site you plan to use such as google. Make sure in the comments you specify that you are using paid search marketing approach and that you make sure you represent yourself appropriately.

I used this approach successfully to join Commission Junction.

Good luck. Keep me posted.

So far, I have only used that web site to increase my approval rates when I apply to work with different merchants inside of a network. But that is not to say that it would not work for joining a network. As with everything else in affiliate marketing -- when in doubt, test it. Worst case scenario, you'll have a resume site to use to join merchants.

Hi Bob,

I think Jeremy's advice to contact the merchant or affiliate manager directly by email is the best approach.

When I get rejected, I email them; They almost never respond. No phone number listed either.

mentioned in session #3 that he had examples of portfolio sites he was going to share in the resources section but I could not find any in relation to that session.

Jeremy is there somewhere in the BIP resources or here on the forum that lists example portfolio sites to provide affiliate managers?

I currently have a website that I have been using to register for affiliate networks. I used this site because its the only site I have( So I will not be promoting any advertisers products on this site). What I wish to do is create new sites specifically for the products/services I decide to promote ~ So hopefully I will not get into any trouble for doing this.

I was turned down by directleads ~ Hopefully I can apply again.

Dear Gordon,

I regret to inform you that we have chosen to deny your application to
participate in the DirectLeads Network.

We typically deny applications because we do not feel your site meets the
requirements set forth by our Terms and Conditions. We reserve the right
to deny participation for any reason.

Sincerely, DirectLeads

I phoned them and tell that I'll use PPC to market their offer. Some of them accepted me. CPA Empire said I need more experience.

I love Bart's idea! Why didn't I think of that!

If a merchant can't appreciate a marketer willing to test, and develop a mini site around their product, to ultimetly sell more of their product, then screw 'em.

Many more fish in the sea!

Don't get discouraged. Some merchants have guidelines in relation to the amount of traffic your site gets and are very short sited, and oblivious to the efforts you are prepared to undertake on their behalf.

Screw'em! (Or maybe call first)

Ditto!

It would be good to sharpen your affiliate vocabulary before calling the manager. Have the conversation outlined (on paper to keep you focused) and be prepared to know terms like CPC, EPC, ROI, etc..

See Jeremy's ebook.

I called CJ and Linkshare. I told them my site is not ready and they helped me work around the screen. I used my eMail address for one. Some people may choose an eMail campaign so a website should not always be an option (most cases a website will be included).
