Hello from Ohio,
I am currently using a trade name in my computer business as a SoleProp and this is what I want to do....
I want to create an LLC to use for all of my business activities. I don't make enough in each area (and donlt want the added work) to make seperate LLC for each activity. Also, I want to still be able to use my trade name because I am well established in the community with the name.
How can I officially work under the LLC while still using the trade name w/o breaking the LLC protection? Alos, I can not find out how I can transfer the trade name to the LLC once I have created it.
Any advice would be great!
BRYAN

You should be able to create

You should be able to create the LLC using the name you are currently trading as then cease the sole proprietor business.

Cancel the trade name

Bryan,

You will need to close or cancel the trade name with the state and form your entity with the same name and file those papers with the state. At least that is how it works here in Utah. You can call someone in your state Corporations division and ask them how to do it.

Best,

Jon
