Anybody complete week 5 task yet?
I registered domain, I choose WP and I bought Professional Theme($80)..I got server already therefore, so far I spent, $8 for domain registar, $80 for professional WP Theme.
Planing to outsource write some contents, rewrite some of reviews..budget($100)
Will post URL when my site is up & running..
I am into laptop as well but can be expand it to software that converts very well(dvd to ipod, dvd to mp3, etc kind) and accessories(high end bags to protect $1000+ investment)..etc

Working on it
I have identified one of the things that I want to try after going through the exercises that Jeremy had posted for us. Right now I am in the middle of doing the in-depth research component to see if it has the chance on being a profitable niche which so far seems to be indicating in that direction. Will keep you up to date as I progress. I looks like I am going to need to allocate about $500 for it to start but will be able to spin off a number of things with it. Luckily I will be able to do my own themes page design etc so will be able to save there.
The toughest part is behind me now that I have the go ahead from the better half to actualy try it by spending some of our money as well lol.

I just got caught up with
I just got caught up with the videos over the weekend (was on vacation for the first week of class) and am still in the stage of narrowing down some niches. The pdf guides were a big help, although I think I've been working on websites so hard the last couple of years that I don't seem to have many interests! (I think it's time to get our more) I did buy xSitePro in preparation (my other sites were done with GoDaddy Website Tonight website builder, which is pretty rudimentary). I also downloaded Wordpress, so am learning that as well.

me too
I have been doing websites for others and I don't really know what to focus on. I thought I had a niche but now I am rethinking it. Also, I have never used a CMS so that is a learning curve but I am excited. What is XSitePro, is that an alternative to Dreamweaver.
me three
when i was younger i use to have all sorts of passions, but after focusing on web development for the last 10 years those have all evaporated. so the "follow your passion" directive has no meaning for me. instead i'm simply going to concentrate on niches where i think people are spending money, and try to do a good job helping them to make their final decision. also, i'm choosing areas about which i won't mind learning something about the product. i mean, vacuum cleaners are fascinating in their own way. aren't they? :)
