Cash Parking on Go Daddy

Lou Mindar's picture

I have several domain names registered with Go Daddy that I am not currently using. Go Daddy offers the option of having ads placed on the sites associated with my domain names. If someone goes to one of my pages and clicks on an ad, I'll earn 60%-80% (depending on which program I choose) of the ad revenue.

Does anyone have any experience with this program? Is it a good idea to do this with otherwise idle domain names?

Thanks,

Lou

I haven't used this program

I haven't used this program but, if you get paid for doing nothing, I'd go for it!

The thing I didn't say before was that cash parking isn't free. It costs $3.99 - $9.99 per month per site, depending on whether or not you want 60% of the ad revenue or 80%. It still might be a good deal, but it's not a complete no-brainer. Does anyone have any experience with cash parking?

Sedo parking is free

I've not tried GoDaddy Cash Parking because you have to pay for it. I do, however, use Sedo for parking, which is a free service. However, unless you have a name that many people type in, you won't make much. I've had names parked there for a couple years and I think I've only made about $17. Best to put a little content up, put some Adsense on the pages and make money you don't have to share with yet a third entity. I'm currently working to get all my names off Sedo and onto their own sites. However, if you are lucky and have "type-in" quality domain names, you can make some money.

GoDaddy Cash Parking - DON'T BOTHER!!!!

Dont bother getting involved with GoDaddy Cash Parking. Their Cash Parking Customer Service department is run by the rudest .. most unethical morons I have ever dealt with.

I have a lot of domains registered there and had quite a few I was not using. One of their representatives called me and convinced me I should put my unused domains on the Cash Parking.

I paid the fee .. set up the domains on the cash parking and everything went fine for the first few months. Not making a lot of money .. but, since the domains were currently unused .. something is better than nothing.

Then, out of the blue, one day GoDaddy sends me a NASTY e-mail saying that a couple of my domains were getting fraudulent traffic and that my cash parking had been disabled.

I had no idea what they were talking about .. had no clue where the traffic was coming from or who may have been responsible for whatever was going on.

I responded to their E-Mail to request further information. I received a second SNOTTY E-Mail informing me that the subject was not open for debate .. my cash parking was permanently disabled .. period!

In other words .. beat it .. get lost .. take a hike .. end of story .. adios!

Needless to say .. I am in the process of moving everything to other service providers. No one needs to do business with a company who treats customers in such a disrespectful manner.

Check out NameDrive. I use

Check out NameDrive. I use them for parked domains, and have found their service to be decent (and it's free).

The great thing about parking a site before developing it is you can track the traffic to see how much type-in traffic your domains get. And it's pretty effortless to park a site...

Another place to try is

Another place to try is Parked - no fees for the service (I think Godaddy is the only one who does that!) but I believe you need at least 10 domains to be accepted, and they're fairly selective. It's a good program - you can also add value by putting your own content (which may get indexed in one or more search engines) on the page .

What value does a cash

What value does a cash parking service offer that would be better than putting an article or two, related to the domain name and then putting AdSense or banner ads on the main "parked" page?

Am I missing something here?

Parking a site takes about 5

Parking a site takes about 5 seconds. What you're suggesting takes about...10 seconds.

But seriously, good point. I've seen some parked sites that must gets tons of type-in traffic, and would make a lot more money if they just tried to hold the visitor's attention for a couple more seconds.

Barry makes a good point.

Barry makes a great point.

You would be better off putting some content on your site that is relevnt to your domain name. You can then add your own Google AdSense Ads at no cost to you.

This way you can start to build a site history with Google (a good thing) and you keep 100% of the AdSense revenue (.10 to $1.00 per click).

I have several domains with Godaddy and while I like their products, their customer service is terrible terrible terrible!

Don't bother

Don't bother with GoDaddy Cash Parking. It's useless and a waste of your time and money. Go with Namedrive instead. It's free and a lot easier to use.
