I just published a blog post, went to make a cup of tea, checked Google upon my return and found my post had already been spidered and listed. It took 3 minutes!

Wow - that's got to be a record!
I think most of my blog posts end up in the index within hours, but I don't think I've seen any pages indexed in minutes. Google must like your site ;)

I guess so. It's a personal blog not a money earning one so there are no aff links or adverts and the code is very clean. Also, I only submit to a select few ping servers instead of the huge lists advised by some people which always end up duplicating your submissions and spamming the SEs.
I grabbed an image of the Google results page showing 3 minutes. I think I'll frame it!

Check out Matt Cutt's post on "Minty Fresh Indexing".
Best,
