I've never used the service, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Check out this forum on ABW for more:

Thanks so much for the feedback. I think I'll sign up with them today. They seem easy and inexpensive. And, they offer their services for WP, Blogger and Squidoo as well. I'll report back later with my experiences with them.

Why does pop shops sites load slowly?

dupatta's picture

Noticed that example pop shop sites load quite slowly.
Is there a particular way for your site to
handle datafeeds so that they load quickly.
Is Jeremy's suggestion for using Navicat to handle the datafeed result in a
affiliate site that loads reasonably quickly?

I have used them before

It is an okay service. They offer a free limited version which gives you a good idea of how the service works. If you don't know anything about programming, then the service is ideal. It lets you pull products from a variety of sites and customize everything about the display: size of product image (if you want one), amount of products, what type of products to display, etc...

Pros: 1. Don't need

Pros:
1. Don't need programming knowledge, just know how to cut and paste html code (if using the free version). Really nice for beginners to get started.
2. Ease of having access to multiple merchant products. You can view thumbnail of all the products, search for products and a list of products by various merchants will show up. So you can make a page with multiple merchants, or just one merchant, whatever you fancy.
3. When a merchant goes offline and you need to take them out of your webpage, just delete them from your popshop and you don't even have to go to your website. They are presto gone right away. So no searching for your link on your site and change code.
4. When a product goes out of stock, it can automatically places a new product similar to the old product for you without you needing to change code. (might be only the paid version I forget)

Cons:
1. For the free version, when someone hovers over the link, it shows the popshop link. You can get the paid version, I think it's $30 a month and then you can show a your own url in the hover.
2. Does not have all merchants listed. If you have a merchant you like and can't find any other replacement, if they are not listed with popshop, then you can't use popshop.
3. Products may not be updated. If a merchant does not update their feed to popshop but they have new products on their site, then you won't have the latest products/prices.
4. No "Buy Now" button! There is a "buy now" link but you cannot use your own image button. The page can be semi-customized but not 100%.
5. If you are using the paid enterprise version, you need to pay them every month, times 12, for every year you are using them, and that adds up.

Thanks for all the great info

I'm really only looking to use them for my niche to see if my research is correct and an opportunity exists.

I've posted elsewhere that if it pans out, I'll either outsource a landing page/datafeed job or set one up myself.

I'm probably going to set up a wordpress mini-site and populate the main page with PopShops items to test.
