Google hits you if....

Google hits your organic listings if you have too many affiliate links on one site. Is this true?

I have 7 links to the same merchant and in March I was listed on place 30 for a competetive keyword. Then I put the 7 affiliate links on the page. In May my site was on lace 900.

Does anybody have experience with a site with a lot of Affiliate links on it (about 10-20) and being listed on the first 10 places in google?

It's hard to know

It's hard to know definitively if the affiliate links caused the problem. I've heard a lot of non-affiliates complain about similar ranking problems. Google rankings can fluctuate considerably while a site is new. How long has this site been online?

Its an old site

The site is 5 years old. But the content changed.

I have 4 similar sites at the same URL in other languages without affiliate links. These sites kept their rankings.

OK maybe there is another reason

The site is about hotels. Its a touristic site. Maybe I spamed the site with the keyword hotels. For the user it was not spam, but maybe google thougt so.
Well, now I deletet a lot of my hotel words. I hope the site will come back. The next check will be on 1st of July. If anybody is intersted, I will post the results monthly.
Best,
Johann
