Yes, we have launched over 100 websites using the DotNetNuke platform. It's pretty easy to get up and started with and there are lots of modules that are available to buy/download that can easily get you lots of functionality you would normally have to hire a programmer to do.

One thing to keep in mind, DNN provides basic CMS functionality, but you must implement third party modules to get better CMS functionality out of DNN.
I love DNN, use it on a daily basis, probably more than a person should, but I know that DNN is a great framework to build on top of, not necessarily an out of the box CMS system.

Other good CMS platforms if you don't want to use Windows is Drupal & Joomla.
