The Black Ink Project is nearing the end, but that doesn't mean the learning has to stop. I'm preparing some Black Ink encore presentations and I want to hear from you. What subjects are you interested in learning more about? What wasn't covered? What training will help you the most?

Leave your comments below.

I can't promise to cover everything you want to know, but I'll do my best to focus on the subjects with the most demand.

More PPC. I thought that session was extremely helpful and would love to know even more.

Kim Morrow's picture

Hi:

I appreciate the encore presentations because unfortunately I have not been able to attend any of the webinars, due to my work schedule. I see that there is alot of content and I really need help from start to finish.... If there is any way of outlining the steps of a campaign from start to finish, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you for this awesome opportunity!

I will always be here to listen.

Thanks again!

I think it's great that Jeremy is going to expand the sessions. The hardest thing for me has always been getting PPC right. I have learned a lot during the past few weeks not only because of the webinars, but because I have read and re-read the HPAM Manual.

I would like to see a real case scenario for a PPC campaign for the ultramobileguide website. I also have difficulty understanding the testing and tracking but I shouldn't say much because I haven't seen the webinars yet.

I own the OMS tool that I purchased from my PPC Classroom membership but haven't used it because I found it confusing. I promised to myself that I will use it this time because I lose a lot of money on advertising that doesn't convert.

Thanks again Jeremy. Looking forward to the future webinars.

mike's picture

I have been extemely overwhelmed in the past weeks so didn't get a chance to catch up. At this time, I think PPC is the major concern. Please elaborate futher and be as technical as possible. Thank you very much, Jeremy.

mike's picture

If possible, we can elaborate further on the session(s) that weighted heavily on the forum. For example, PPC (Google Adwords), currently there are 146 topiscs with 619 posts so obviously, people are either more interested or have more questions in this subject. Thanks!

Brad's picture

I agree with most everybody else. I believe that the core to being successful is th PPC and tracking of your results. The more we could get on that the better it will be for us that are striving to succede.

cpmaster's picture

Hi Jeremy,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for the project, it's very helpful for all of us.

A session that I would like to see is a session about writing for marketing purposes, how to write in the right way to convince a potential customer to do the purchase step and maybe even further, to trust our site and come back to order different products.

Think about it, writing is one of the most important parts in the marketing industry, how can we convice a visitor to become a client without writing? a lot of people don't know the subject well enough to write right.

Really appreciate all of your help,
Asaf.

Jeremy,
Thanks so much for all the information you have given us. I have missed a few classes but I am trying to keep up with the pace. My problem is bringing everything together and starting the campaign. I agree with the OP that more info on PPC and testing would be helpful. I would also like to see the ultramobile site in action. Thanks.

zzRider's picture

I would like to see more about PPC and different types of landing pages. Different types of review pages, pre-sell pages etc.

I think you should call up Amit and Rosalind and get a three way call going. You, Amit and Roz all do PPC in a different way. I would love to hear you three talking about why your systems work for you.

That could be just a start. I'm sure if the three of you put your heads together you could take the best of the best and make a killer course on PPC. I know I would surely buy it.

That was just a thought. Anyway, if you could do more on PPC & landing pages that would be really cool.

Thanks for all your hard work and totally destroying the free line with great material,

John P

Hi Jeremy,

I agree with everyone else, and would also like to see more on the PPC side. I think seeing an actual PPC campaign developed from start to finish would be hugely beneficial. I would also like to see how you would set up a PPC campaign to "test" a niche concept you are thinking of deploying, but maybe haven't quite decided on yet. So give us an example of how you use PPC, landing pages, etc. to test out a niche without actually doing all the work of a full-blown niche site like the ultra-mobile laptop guide site. So let's say you had this great idea tomorrow, but you weren't quite sure it was going to actually be profitable... how would you actually go about testing it out with PPC and landing pages, without putting tons of time and effort into it first? This part is still a bit fuzzy to me.

Thanks again for all the time and effort you have put into this program. It has been hugely beneficial to this point.

All the Best

For an encore session, I'd like to suggest an extended version of your assessment/feedback of sites that BIP members have developed, like you did in an earlier session with us. BIP members could pre-submit their sites, and then you could select a number of them to review.

I'd love to see assessment of the sites include both the core basics of the landing page like before (layout, CTA button, etc), as well as additional topics you've covered, like stickiness and Google Analytics stats and how to translate that info into decisions on changes to make on the site (people could submit a snapshot of their stats as well).

Thank you, Jeremy for the gift(s) you are giving!

Best,
Abigail

tanuki's picture

First, thank you for everything that you've done so far with the BIP. This course has been, by far, the most practical source for learning affiliate marketing, that I have seen.

For the encore, I would love to see some more instruction on optimizing an Adwords or YSM campaign after sufficient data has been gathered. I say, "more" because you may already be covering this in the final week, but I'm not sure to what extent.

Todd

Will's picture

All of the sessions have been excellent.

However, for someone who has never yet really made a dime, they need a way to get their feet wet and get a few bucks rolling in before they dedicate 6 months to creating a real web property - and probably spend $1000 or $2000 contracting out work - on a niche they don't even know for sure is profitable.

Niche selection is probably hardest for the newbie, then creating that first landing page (how did you create that original .png file?) on a mini-site with Yahoo! or MSN marketing.

I tried just signing up for Yahoo! (under your link, Jeremy) and found out you can't just create an account but they want you to start creating an ad and campaign immediately.

Call it: "Newbie to just a bit of black ink"; then he or she can leverage what they learned with the few dollars they made - with the confidence that built - into a full fledged web property with proper campaign which hopefully leads to BIG black ink.

Regards.

smile66603's picture

Definitely more PPC techniques, that's probably the session that helped me the most.

Also, maybe how PPL landing pages differ from PPS landing pages.

Thanks.

Hey there Jeremy, thanks so much for the project, it just great :)
They are 2 things that i'ld like to see,
one, with PPC, writing effective ads, Maybe if we could touch on that just
a little bit more.
Another thing would be web 2.0 and social marketing. Still havent
understood that too well. I propably will use it later on, once i'm a bit more
established with my affiliate business, but i'd like to get a better understanding
of it and using it.
Thanks for all your hard work Jeremy and God bless.

The training has been great!

I would like more real life video example of PPC, from keyword research to tracking and results. I think this is the most scary part of online business. Overcoming this fear will put a lot of people on the part to success.

LizWiz's picture

Jeremy,

You have done a wonderful job and we greatly appreciate it!

I would like to see (and I believe you have this planned) indepth discussion about UltraMobileGuide.com and your keyword research process, as well as how you are putting the entire site together.

Also, I would really like to see a video (or videos) about how to properly use Fireworks and Dreamweaver to develop your websites/landing pages. I believe that you mentioned in your webinar about these two products, that you would be developing at least one Camtasia showing how you use them. Is this still in the works?

Thanks again for all of your help!

Best Regards,
Marshall

Ryan's picture

6 hrs of sleep (on a real good day) = 18 hrs left in a day

For those who work 8 or more hrs. at a day job still that leaves = 10 hours

Most of the time it seems I have way less than 10 hrs to play with after time spent doing necessary things, meeting needs of spouse/children, commuting, walking the dog, budgeting bills (oh the joy), etc., etc., etc.,

Maybe a sub-section on what you did with your time to be effective at this [while you still had a day job] - how many hrs a day you did keyword research vs. building your landing page. Did you work on one thing at a time or devote X hrs per day to multiple duties for a given niche? Did you work on multiple niches at the same time? How much time did you spend learning, reading, etc per day?

In other words - What best practices can we do to Micro-manage what little time we have left at the end of the day to become successful at affiliate marketing based on your experience making that transition?

Twitter.com/RyanHakes

Ayn Elise's picture

Certainly some more information with the PPC; as you, Jeremy, had suggested to show the steps of the campaign for the Ultramobileguide site. So that we have more information and see that in action.

Also, as Marshall said above, some more about the site design using those two tools, if possible. And the further more in-depth type of information on adding the more dynamic elements of the design. A video on that was mentioned before as a possibility. Constructing a landing page could be helpful as an example, is a yes.

To consider the possiblity that all members will be able to view the Aweber video at some point.

I am thinking ahead, but I will estimate that when it comes to the analytics tools and a tool to assist with split-testing, there will be many questions at a later date. To plant that seed in your mind:)

All your efforts have been greatly appreciated. Thank you, so much!

Gigglesoup's picture

I'm going to sound like an echo here, but, yes "More PPC" please. I think for me the PPC thing is paralyzing me from going into the next step of affiliate marketing. I do fine with Adsense sites because Adsense is more of a statistical thing - the more pages you get up the more clicks you get. It's a matter of content, content, content, with links back to your site for better PR. But, with PPC it just seems so overwhelming, especially when you stand to lose so much money with testing.

I enjoyed the session on PPC, but it did seem geared to someone with some knowledge of PPC; it felt a little complicated for a PPC newbie like myself. If possible, I'd like a more basic session, rather than more advanced, though I realize that more seasoned affiliate marketers might be quite bored with it. But, for newbies, it might be helpful.

All in all your sessions have been wonderful!

I think I just want as much detail and some examples of whole campaigns. I get parts of the process and I think that if I see a few real coupons it will click.

Jeremy:

I haven't been able to keep up so I'm only through the first 7 sessions but they've been fantastic so far! Thanks again for putting this training together. It rocks! Here are the 3 areas I would like to see more of (if they aren't covered already in the sessions I haven't gotten to yet)...

1. PPC
Like everyone has mentioned...walk us through an entire campaign from start to finish. Show us how you choose the keywords, how you write the ad, what you look for when you analyze the campaign, what you do to tweak it, etc. etc.

2. Tracking
Everyone says you can't make the "big bucks" unless you track. The problem is, it seems to be so complicating. What software does a guy use to track? How do you set it up the right way? What am I looking for? I think you could do an entire session just on tracking!

3. Niche Analysis
Based on what you advise (pursue niches you enjoy or know something about - and only pursue a few niches at a time), it seems to me realistically a guy who works a full time job is only going to have time to pursue a handful of niches per year. To that end, it's imperative that the niches he/she pursues are profitable and worth the time, money, and effort. How do you test niches first before pursuing them with 110% time and effort?

Thanks!

Travis

Brad's picture

Jeremy,

We are learning now about how to get started with Affiliate Marketing, but how about a session on what to do once the PPC campaign is up and running or when a niche is successful? How often should you tweak key words, how often do you add new key words. What is needed to keep a successful campaign and niche going?

Thanks,

Brad

JackSchmitt's picture

It all begins with the ads and, although I think my ads are appealing, my clickthru rate never indicates much success. Sales agree, unfortunately. I look at competitors ads and, to my mind, many aren't nearly as well written as mine, yet I don't get the clicks. I'm getting close to a year, beginning with PPC Classroom in 2007, and still no profit. I can only think my ads are as much of the problem as my much too long focus on clickbank offers.

All that said, Jeremy, this has been an astounding effort and incomparable production on your part. Thanks for the long, long hours and extremely high quality. At this point, you've given back far more than you've received. Thanks, sincerely!

mike1115's picture

I'd like to see split testing and tracking. Not sure if a demo of the new OMS is in the works but that would be helpful as well.

Thanks.

chopper's picture

PPC implementation would be my first recommendation. I'd like to see a campaign implemented in detail. I don't see how you can develop 1,000 keywords, make them relevant to your landing page and keep Google happy. Secondly, I'd like to see how to take WordPress, install/copy it to your hosted domain and then modify it. I'd like to see some widgets installed and landing pages designed. Sounds like a three week course doesn't it? If you want, Jeremy, you can make this a lifetime hobby - teaching us all we need to know that is ;)

Thanks much, I've learned a great deal so far!

I see that I am not alone in trying to discover the secret to a successful PPC campaign. Of more than 50 that I have tried, none but the campaign for my own web site has been successful. Obscure or longtail keywords just don't get any impressions. I really don't understand how so many people run PPC campaigns that generate thousands of dollars in revenue. I, too, would like to see the PPC campaign for the "laptop" example you are using -- step by step, keyword by keyword, ad group by ad group, ad by ad. Whatever I've been doing, I just haven't managed to get PPC.

You've done an incredible job with the Black Ink Project, and although I have been involved with internet marketing for a few years, some of the things you have taught are still way over my head.

The Saving Lady

bmcorley's picture

I would first like to comment on what a incredible amount of material you have provided.

Being brand new in this area, things I would like to see some additional material on is a little more about how to set up a quick niche testing campain (direct linking or not) to test a niche viability, an example walk-through of building a keyword list, some technical implementation tips such as of tracking pixels, link cloaking etc. I know things like the keyword research was covered some in BIP and in detail in your book but seeing things in action versus reading them for a newbee is a completely different experience.

Thanks again for all your effort.

Jim Plummer's picture

The sessions have been great. I've learned quite a bit.

I would like to learn more about how you use Dreamweaver and Fireworks to create your websites. It would be very useful to see how you create an actual web page using these two tools.

CT's picture

I have been lagging behind for while, but I know I can keep the promise of completing the BIP and come out with a web site.

All the sessions (that I have gone through) have been great.

There are several things I wish Jeremy can add... :-) not just on affiliate business, but extended to selling products. (I may be too much out of the box)

a. Sourcing of fulfillment center (like those of 4 hour work week). Beside being affiliate, there should be nothing to stop us to buy products from manufacturers and sell through our web site.

b. One or two more examples that are very different from the ultra portable notebook:
i. may be something more on content writing, or
ii. single product, expandable to many products within a range, or
iii. mini branding of a person/ web site,
With this I believe, the structure of the web sites and ppc strategy may change significantly.

c. Also, keywords research and selection for SEO
i. how to choose keywords for a web site for SEO among all the keywords with low KEI
ii. how to choose and let go keywords that fit/ do not fit into the content. For instance, whether to let go a related keyword with good KEI, but doesn't seems very fit into your web site niche.
iii. consideration of SEO vs PPC vs Consistency of Content in designing a web site

d. Automated content like syndicating other blogs posts summary.

Hey Jeremy,

I agree that these modules have been excellent and highly informative. Thank you so much for putting this together for all of us. I am happy to see that these forums have had quite a different "tone" than the initial ones at PPC Classroom.

I've asked you for this before, and it may fall under the realm of OMS more, but a session on Commission Junction would be a huge help to me and I suspect others as well. Particularly, I am interested in learning how to use PHP redirects while at the same time being able to track your converting keywords. Also, dissecting the "anatomy" of a CJ link would be really helpful as well (i.e. is it necessary to include the 1X1 tracking pixel in the link?)

Since CJ is the largest affiliate network and you have had such a long-standing and highly profitable relationship with them, it would be really great to get your take on having success with this somewhat esoteric company.

Brad's picture

OK Jeremy, this is my third (and last?) suggestion,

How about a session on using direct linking in Yahoo and MSN for testing keywords and niches? A discussion in detail would be nice.

Thanks again,

Brad

Larry Eath's picture

Jeremy you + your family for giving some much to us. God bless you & yours.

1) I'd like to see more information on finding profitable niches. I know you've said start with things you know (hobbies, work experience, etc). But, there has to be either reports, websites, journals, news, or something that gives a clue of hot trends.

2) With Google's policy of no direct-linking and not wanting thin affiliate sites, please show us how you go about performing a quick test on a campaign to determine it's profitability before expanding to a full blown website.

3) More demostrations on the use of Fireworks & Dreamweaver to put together a website.

Thanks,
Larry

Definitely more in depth PPC. That's what made me stop my brief AM adventure and that's what I think is the bottle neck in the AM story.

Thanks

Walter's picture

Amit's PPC presentation was absolutely awesome. But nobody seems to be saying much about how to write the ad copy itself. I'd like to hear from the giants in the industry (Amit, Jeremy, et al) how they write ad copy that is targeted, relevant and pulls in the clicks.

Dan's picture

I am most interested in seeing what you do with ultramobileguide after you launch the site. Do you do any SEO prior to launching a PPC campaign? How do you do keyword research/set up your campaign? How do you scale it? Will you be using a fresh adwords account, or one that has history on it? I’ve had issues in the past with my campaigns being google slapped before I even started running my campaigns and I’m still not exactly sure why this had happened.

Dan's picture

Would love to see how you improve conversions using split testing on your ads and landing pages.

adisf's picture

Another suggestion for the Encore project could be the CJ reporting issue. I find their help pages a little difficult to understand and I am never sure what a lot of their headers mean.
In addition Jeremy could tell us which are the most important reports from CJ that he uses.

Thanks

zpivat's picture

Hi Jeremy,

I'd definitely like to see you cover more stuff on PPC (well, may be some SEO won't hurt too, afterall it's free traffic).

Here's a powerful idea: what about setting up a case study/live demonstration through which you show us how you find a niche from scratch, find a proper affiliate program, do the keyword research, set up a winning campaign structure in the 3 major PPC networks (Google, Yahoo, MSN), complete with power ads and landing page, and get it profitable, and then scale/expand/test/track/optimise it to make it super profitable. So, this way we'll gain trully practical knowledge which we can emulate. Obviously there will be trade secrets which you won't be willing to share, which is totally fine, but at least you can help the newbies get their feet wet =).

Radomir's picture

Hi Jeremy,

thanks for this Black Inkt Project. Really good stuff.
I would appriciate a further indepth session about using / integrating datafeeds into websites.
You've touched on it in a very clear and simple way in one of the session, but i would like to learn more about it. Like how to integrate a feed with multiple products and how to let this work in say a comparission situation, what queries one could use or how to setup a site in general, with navigation and all.

Looking forward to the future session and thanks again for this Project.

Radomir

Grand's picture

Personally I consider the best session as follows: keyword research before you've made a plan for your site and inner pages --> which kind of copy or pre-sell did you decide to write for your pages and why ---> setting up PPC campaign and full keyword research for your future PPC campaign --> setting up Ad groups.

I just want to understand the logic behind creating the site as a profits inventory. We cannot just grab some keywords, write keyword rich pages and send paid traffic hoping to grow our business and make some good money. I'd like to see WHY you decide to pick the keywords you've picked, why you decided to set up a sitemap like you've set up, and HOW you are going to organise your PPC campaign.

Anyway, thanks a lot Jeremy for these practical sessions, I'll be glad to learn everything you are talking about!

Marlyn's picture

Hi Jeremy,
I would love to learn more about PPC campaigns and maybe a little SEO would be great. I have listened to every webinar since it has started and I can't get enough.

I would also like to know more about using Dreamweaver, and how to anchor a text or pictures. Or even if pictures are allowed on, let's say....Clickbank ads that don't already have pictures. I know you have talked about this before but I am still not sure about what I am doing.

thanks,
Marlyn

Like everybody else, I acknowledge your outstanding contribution to the affiliate business - the 20 Black Ink sessions have been brilliant. Sincere thanks.

As for the Encore, I endorse the need to know more about PPC and tracking.

Further, I would like a bit more info. around datafeeds please.

Finally, as I sit in a small country (Australia) would you be able to give some views regarding the "internationality" of the affiliate business?

Regards,
Peter.

Elona's picture

I would really love a session that details how to do a quick test campaign to determine the viability of a potential product. I really got stuck after the first 4 sessions because we jumped right into designing a website before I could really see that I had a promising product to work with! I'm sure people with more experience and previous success have a better feel for what products will convert, but I need some proof before I get too involved in building a site. It feels like this step was left out. Please revisit the testing issue!
Thanks for everything!

Hey Jeremy,

I would like to thank you for all the information you have provided, both here and in ppc classroom. It was great to talk to you for the hour and a half :D

I would like to see more information on keyword research with the google tool. How you determine which keywords to keep based on cost and long tail-wide, etc...How do you determine if it will be relevent and if it will get enough search queries....

Also, after you have set up your keywords and import in your campaign, how much do you set your budget for day, month, etc...What is best in this practice. When do you kill a keyword so your quality score stays high, that kind of thing....

Thanks again Jeremy!!

I've already voted to get to know an in depth about PPC, but please elaborate it from basic to advance in a technical stand point. Going back to what I do or don't really understand (also by reading all the comments above), I really want to understand more about the following areas...

1) Keywords: For newbie like my self, I'd like to know more about creating and bidding on the keywords. Let's take UltraMobileGuide.com as an example. I understand we need to create the keywords from basic to complex and/or from wide to deep. I think it would be very helpful if you could please provide us a list of keyword search you were using and bidding on? Do you tweak or add new keywords whenever you find hot topics in that area that sells? Also, I was trying to view the entire UltraMobileGuide.com site from WayBackMachine but it wasn't available. Is there anyway we could see that or any of your active sites in action?

2) Web 2.0 and social marketing: More in depth and please be very technical.

3) Please also cover the following topics that was posted by CT. I am just going to copy and paste it here...

If you Tell me and I will forget.
If you Show me and I may remember.
If you Involve me and I will understand.

Thank you so very much Jeremy. God bless!

Very many thanks for the awesome webinar series. The amount of information was impressive. Now comes the most important part - taking action. I think many of us - working alone - need a coach or buddy to keep us motivated and on task, or just to discuss strategies.

As far as encore topics, ppc gets my vote as a skill that seems to be the most difficult to master. Hand in hand, is the ability to write effective ads, landing page headlines and copy.

Keyword selection is another hard nut to crack consistently and an area where I read a lot of different strategies, but rather vague information when it comes to a systematic step-by-step approach.

Whatever you decide to teach as a follow-up, I'll be there.

Thank you again for being so giving of your time.

jackball's picture

I think a walk through Commission Junction showing how to tag your links with tracking id's and then how-to access the reports to see your results (I think your session on Optimize My Site will probably address this).

Then setting up an adwords campaigns from start to finish would be great!

Thanks for everything you have done!
