Is It A Bad Idea To Gradually Launch A Site?

Hello all,
I have done my niche, competition and keyword research and determined there is a definite opportunity.
I will be using Drupal for my site because I want to create a community site. I've been using WP for the last six months.
I've installed Drupal on a test server and I really like what I see. Because I am new to it, it will take me a little while to get my hands around it.
I want to use a datafeed and I've gotten the feed and worked with Navicat to load it into a MySQL database. This part of it is not hard for me.
My question is this: getting the datafeed set up like Jeremy did it is going to take some time. Would it be a bad idea to use a PopShops datafeed to pull a limited number of listings into my site so I can test the site and then add the landing page using the Navicat/Dreamweaver combo later if the results are promising?
In other words, I don't want the technical bottleneck to keep me from putting up a site. Plus, I could make some money that would help me pay for the landing page development.
I'd like to get input on this. I'm torn because part of me says it should be at least close to final before it goes up but the other part of me has a natural tendency to put stuff off.
Thanks,
Jeff

Sometimes I think it's a good idea to move forward, even if you don't have your plan ironed out. As Michael said "done is better than perfect".
I don't see a problem using PopShops or some other copy and paste solution to get started. When you're feeling more adventurous you might want to look at a longer term solution.
Best,
Jeremy
