Competition ..what do you guys think?

Hey guys,
I was wondering, I am promoting a software and saw that some affiliate review sites have created a seal ("best value 2008" or so)and awarded it to the provider.
they get both credibility and a valuable back link to their site since the provider placed the seal on their site as 'awards' they won.

I have a review site as well (with a different twist to it) and i was wondering should i do such a thing as well (for the back links)? the downside is that my competitors would copy my site or so.

I was wondering what is your opinion about the subject?

From the Session 12 Action Guide of the Black Ink Project:

Tell People About Your Reviews Whenever you give a positive review to a product or service, notify the merchant or vendor to let them know about it. In some instances the merchant may link back to your review.

If you really want to go the extra mile, create an award for the product or service category you’re promoting. Sites like Cnet.com and PCMag.com create dozens of awards each year, which generate a lot of good links back to their site. Whenever somebody is given their prestigious “Editor’s Choice” award, they often do a press release and feature the award on their site. Even smaller sites like Packt Publishing create niche award categories.

Ya - I think it's a good idea :)
