How Important Is to Select a Domain Name Based on Keywords?

Hello,

I selected a niche that I really like and after some research, I found a keyword (phrase) that has medium demand and very little competition.

How important or how beneficial is to select a domain name that contains that particular keyword?

I think it's beneficial to have a domain name which includes relevant keywords but I don't think it's crucial. Quite often all the domain names containing your best keywords have already been registered. If your name has nothing at all to do with the theme of the site, you have to spend more time building the brand so your name is automatically associated with the product(s) you promote.

I recommend listening to Aaron Wall's Black Ink Session on link building. He talks about how to select a good domain for maximum SEO benefit.
