Linux or Microsoft Hosting?

I'm in the process of setting up a test domain name and hosting. Both GoDaddy and 1and1 have Linux and Microsoft hosting. Does it matter what type of server hosts your site? What differences are there for the web site developer?
Thanks!

I would go with the Linux
I would go with the Linux option. Linux is more stable and less vulnerable to security attacks than Windows.
not quite your opinion here
A bad linux setup is as even as vulnerable as windows if not more. Beside that I would also suggest a linux setup because of plenty of advantages like .htaccess and mod_rewrite support (apache webserver). I read currently a lot of negative complaints about godaddy and personally I can really admire hostgator. Just ordered the baby hosting, paid with paypal and instantly got access to the server :)
Thanks for the quick posts.
Thanks for the quick posts. I'll get on it.

linux no doubt
being a windows developer myself I admit that linux is probably the best way to go. The free resources and utilities for websites is astronomical
Linux +1
Linux +1
Linux!
