Jeremy, What is your advice on Drop Shipping?

clifton's picture

Hi Jeremy!

I have some questions concerning Drop Shipping:
1) Have you ever used a drop shipping company? If so, can you recommend a good company?
2) Since I don't have a product of my own, do you think working with a drop shipping company would be a good idea starting off?
3) Is Commission Junction a drop shipping company, or are they a middleman between the distributor and the retailer?

The reason I’m asking these questions is I want to work with a company(s) that offer many products while giving me the best ROI .

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Clifton

Clifton,

Commission Junction is simply the middle man between you and the vendors for advertising and commission purpose only. They are not a drop shipping company.

You don't need a drop shipping company as the advertisers you will be promoting will do all the shipping. You are simply doing the affiliate advertising for them.

You don't need to be concerned about the shipping.

The best way to find the advertisers / vendors with a good ROI is to search Commission Junction and click on "Get Links" then click on "Advertiser List"

Look for Advertisers with a high "EPC" and high "network earnings". Those will be the advertisers that have the best conversion rates and best ROI.

Hi Clifton Dan cleared up

Hi Clifton

Dan cleared up quite a bit for you in those few sentences.

By being an affiliate for these companies, you get the luxury of promoting companies that, in most cases, already have a firm hold in their respective markets, and you, as an affiliate, try to fill in any gaps in their marketing strategy.

Now, if you want to pursue your interest in drop shipping, by all means go check out Worldwide Brands.

They have a huge database of companies willing to work with small home based businesses, offering drop shipping, less than truck load bulk purchases, liquidations, etc.

Lots of valuable, free information also.

Being an affiliate for the products you are interested in drop shipping first, may give you a better idea of the market you are thinking about entering.

My 2 cents.

My wife is a book seller on

My wife is a book seller on ebay and amazon. We are looking at http://www.doba.com as a possible source for drop shipping additional items.

From the DOBA web site:

"Doba does not warehouse any product. We create relationships with suppliers and manufacturers all over the United States that agree to drop ship products for Doba members. Because of Doba's large member base, we are able to work with some of the largest and best wholesalers in the nation. Many of these manufacturers would be extremely difficult for most small and home-based businesses to work with, but Doba provides the services that allow you to work with them instantly..."

Works kind of like Commission Junction in that you log into your account with them and would have access to all the product information/customer info in one spot.

Worth checking out.

I would like to say that selling on ebay gets harder and harder, especially with the ever increasing fees.

While you are searching for a new supplier A few tricks to remember

First, you must be aware of eBay's™ policies.

Second, you need to insure that you do not violate these policies.

And third, you must monitor your competition to insure that they too are not violating eBay's™ policies.

You have to understand that eBay wants you to purchase every possible option because that is where they make their money. Don't use the list in second category if your profit potential is not there to support, any additional images or upgrades doubles your fees so don't do it.

Always use the second chance offer , when you have sold a item and there were other bidders ebay will send them a email giving them a second chance offer so if it sells to one of these other bidders you win. If they do not purchase there are no listing fees , it is a way of getting free listings on ebay.

There is also a little know tool you can use to evaluate your products selling potential. Example: If you are selling a Fujifilm Finepix A700 Go to advanced search ,enter the phrase of the item you are selling and select Completed listings only , now remember this sometimes you can select advanced search and ebay does not show you the complete advanced search. So do a regular search ,wait for the results then select advanced search and your phrase will automaticly be included.

Now you can compare your price to auctions that sold or did not sell and evaluate wheather or not your item has a selling potential for the price you paid and how much profit you can receive after fees. The green Prices are auctions that had winning bidders and the red prices are auctions where the item did not sell.

We hope this will help auction sellers we have more tricks and stratiges use the contact us page on our
