Trusted site badges and logos

Anybody know what type of logos or badges you could put on your landing page to give searchers ... hmm that warm and fuzzy? I've just finished validating my site for the HTML and it checks out with an A plus, but I'm not sure the HTML badge is really appropriate or relevant. I know it costs for most anything you could put on your page, but if anybody is using something that's proven useful I'd love to hear it.

Thanks a lot.

Depends

I think it depends on the type of site it is. For the most part, I don't think the average surfer knows anything about xhtml or css validation so, although it can't do any harm putting these badges on your site, I wouldn't say it's essential. I also don't really think the average surfer understands what SSL is or the importance, in certain circumstances, of a secure site.

I'd suggest looking for a well known authority which covers the niche your site is targeting. Maybe the BBB, Good Housekeeping etc, whichever is most relevant. Something the average surfer will have seen and will recognize.

Hmm good info

Well, the merchant I'm promoting does belong to the BBB and they have their badge clearly shown on their site, but I don't believe my site would qualify for a BBB badge even if I try putting it on the LP that the vendor is on. I really wish I could, I think it could have an affect.

Thanks for the feedback.
