Greetings from the Garden State

Greetings from NJ (yes, there really ARE gardens here ... it isn't ALL turnpike :) )! I posted so I guess I ought to delurk...
I'm a freelance web developer/consultant - after a long time working in corporate I.T. I've been self employed for a few years now so I guess you could say I've already quit my day job, but I'd like to take that one step further and ditch my reliance on unreliable clients and mind-numbing consulting assignments.
I started dabbling in affiliate marketing a few years ago - my first attempts were disasters but in the sea of (mis)information that's out there I was fortunate enough to stumble onto a book by someone in the business which offered good, solid advice (many of the same basic principles as in HPAM) and put me on the right track. Today I have several sites which are profitable and I make a nice side income from it - but not enough to live on.
I'd like to change that.
What I do well: HTML/CSS, programming, databases and dynamic pages, data and site structure (I come from a programming/systems administration background), on-page SEO. I like to research and write content. I have an eclectic group of interests and a smattering of knowledge to match. I'm not a designing genius, but I know my limitations and keep myself out of trouble by keeping things simple.
Where I need he-e-e-e-lp: PPC campaigns, increasing traffic, tracking and monitoring, keeping myself focused and organized. The sites I have convert quite well, but I know there's room for improvement there too.
Which is why I'm here! I look forward to being part of this community - sharing, growing and celebrating successes with all of you :)!

Welcome, JerseyGirl! You
Welcome, JerseyGirl! You should find this site and the people here very informative. I'm new to this but I learn something useful each time I visit. I think you will have a lot of your questions answered here. Also, just checking, but I assume you have viewed, or are in the process of viewing, The Black Ink Project? If not, you need to check it out. Jeremy did an awesome job teaching us the whole process of affiliate marketing. The best part...it's free! What a great guy he is!!
Thanks for the welcome :)!
Thanks for the welcome :)!
I first found out about Jeremy/QYDJ/HPAM some time ago when he did some webinars for CJ. I attended one of those, was impressed and came away with some tips that I immediately put to good use. Then some things hit the fan in my personal life and I didn't follow through completely.
But I did remain on his mailing list (the fact that I stayed on the list and came back as a
"customer" this many months later is an object lesson in the value of building lists - though I'm the first to admit I'm really bad about DOING it).
I arrived a little late to the party for the Black Ink Project and am just catching up - what an outstanding course! I'm doing BIP2 and am planning to (knock on wood) dedicate as much of the next 2 weeks to it as I can and keep up on the action items - so far, so good.
