Pulling teeth: How to convince program managers...

So I found a website with a product I'm actually enthusiastic about promoting but this (semi-popular) merchant only allows an affiliate link to their sign up page which leaves 99% of the presell effort on the affiliate. While I realize that's our job anyway (preselling); I think the normal vistor will want to see more pages on the site than just a sign up page - before signing up.

I sent a polite email (I hope it came off that way) but not sure they really listened nor want to bother with it.

Q: When a merchant has an account with say CJ.com - can CJ, on behalf of the merchant, create deep links to the merchant's site or does someone working for the merchant have to create those deep links and then provide them to CJ to add to our "get links" control panel?

Q2: Any not-so-obvious suggestions, tips to clearly articulate why a merchant should offer flex/deep links and how that would overall benefit their entire aff program??

I know I shouldn't spend too much time on this and just move on to the next program, but I really find this to be a quality site in a narrow niche so it is worth the effort to me.
