Direct linking to test niche first?

Hi Jeremy and fellow back inker

Firstly, gotta say thank you jeremy for the back ink project, it is very informative. great work.

Regarding to the direct link option you mentioned in session 1, at 47 minutes in webex, you said it's good to first do direct linking to test out. I absolutely agree with you on that point, however, even though the search engines like YSM do allow for direct linking, Most of the merchants don't allow affiliates to do that. And with merchants don't allow merchants use display URL and google only allow one unique display URL, it pretty much means no direct link unless redirect (however ,this is against google's policy).

So what's your suggestion in regards to direct linking in times like this?

Many thanks for your great work
Victor

I know you said most

I know you said most merchants don't allow this - but many still do. On cj.com just look for their keyword link.

Next to that look for cheap/free templates or design a landing page yourself and test it that way.

Jeremy has reccomended templatemonster in the past.
