Organization Tool Recommendations

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for tools or programs they've used to help them get organized with business?

I'm looking for something (free or not) that can help me keep better track of all the different aspects of starting my own website as I usually just end up with a million folders and files scattered all over my desktop and that's not really very effective I know.

The more I read and do in regards to opening my own website means the more stuff I have to keep track of so it would be nice to have it organized in a cohesive way via my computer.

It's probably wishful dreaming on my part but I would love to be able to open some kind of program that works like your "real desktop workspace" would with places to keep calendar appointments in view, to do lists handy, text files I'm working on close by etc.

Does such a beast exist?

I don't know of an application that does exactly what you are looking for. However if you are using Dreamweaver to design your site this video might help...

For organization, you could try using the iGoogle page with Gadgets. I find it very useful as it allows me to see at a glance my gmail, docs, calender, to-do list, notes, news feeds etc.

Thanks for the igoogle tip, I've always just used a clock in my desktop gadgets and wasn't aware you could do all that with them.

Now my desktop has to do lists handy, calendar appointments at a glance, color-coded sticky notes for thoughts I'm only halfway through, a running budget of online business expenses and even my daily horoscope for good measure :)

It may not be an all-in-one program but the gadgets look great and will help to keep me organized.
