WebPosition Gold or other?

Has anyone tried and had success with WebPosition Gold or something similar? I've been eye-balling it for a year or two, but can't seem to get comfortable with the $149.

I've also considered a couple web-based services that advertise similar results to WebPosition Gold. They claim to manage your reoccurring engine submissions for about $19 /month. They also have customer support who will help you optimize your site.

Thanks - Gary

In my opinion it's a waste of money. The software focuses on on-page optimization strategies, which are not nearly as important as quality and quantity of inbound links. You can learn everything you need to know about on-page optimization in Section 5. If you really want to learn the details about on-page optimization I recommend Planet Ocean. I don't know of any professional SEO's that use the software. I think it's mostly a marketing gimmick.

In my opinion the only useful benefits are that it tracks your ranking over time. However, I'm not sure if that justifies the cost.

Google has even publicly announced that they don't want webmasters using tools like this because it sucks their bandwidth.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Jeremy
