I came here today to find out exactly that! I thought that I would glance really quickly to see if anyone else had brought up the matter and sure enough, position one was "duplicate content".

Thanks guys!

Andy

Okay, I have a question. I read the blog and I could not find the answer, so I hope someone here can help me.

If I write an article on my site, would it be okay to place the exact same article on ezinearticles.com and other sites for distribution or will that give me a duplicate content penalty. Will google know that my site is the original content provider or do I stand the chance of getting a penalty of some sort.

Thanks
Matt

Google says:

Syndicate carefully: If you syndicate your content on other sites, make sure they include a link back to the original article on each syndicated article. Even with that, note that we'll always show the (unblocked) version we think is most appropriate for users in each given search, which may or may not be the version you'd prefer.

My interpretation:

1. Make sure the article/site links back to you as the original source.
2. If the site has a Higher PR and is deemed more relevant the syndicated article may show above yours - (this has happened to me before when people syndicate/repurpose content on my blog.)
