Yahoo Bidding Technique

I use a bidding technique on Google and was wondering if anyone else used the same technique and also if anyone used a similar technique on Yahoo.

The technique I use is bidding on the same term twice with different match options. When I do this, I bid higher on the exact match. To use a date example, I would do this.

dallas dating = $.75
[dallas dating] = $1.50

This seems to work pretty well for me on Google, but I was wondering if anyone has tried this on Yahoo, or if the new Yahoo Search interface was even a good match for this technique. I would guess that the Advanced match type on Yahoo is similar to the Broad match type on Google, so this may be a good idea.

Since the new Yahoo interface allows duplicate keywords if they're in different Ad Groups, I could create one ad group that has a set of keywords with Advanced match type and another ad group with the same keywords set to Standard match type.

Thanks for any input you may be able to offer.

Yahoo Bidding Technique

Match types in Yahoo are much different than Google and Microsoft. The technique you mentioned would work well in the aforementioned search engines, but you can't easily do the same thing in Yahoo.

I haven't tested the strategy you mentioned in Yahoo, but it seems plausible. My strategy in Yahoo has been to bid on several keyword variations using standard (exact) match. It's probably not the most elegant solution, but it's been working good for me.

I really wish Yahoo changed the match types to resemble Google and Microsoft, but I don't see that feature anywhere on the horizon.

Let us know how it works.

Best,

Thank you very much for the information Jeremy, it was a huge help. It's inspired me to try to learn more about the details of all the different match types in the different search environments.
